Jeff Peterson bio
Born and raised in MN, I moved to TN to get out of the cold when I was 25. I now live near Nashville TN, I have a wife and a 21yr old son. I've worked in retail most of my life. Over the last few years I've most recently become an advocate for those with Down syndrome. When I found out that over 75% of prenatal diagnosis’s of Down syndrome are terminated, it just broke my heart. So I learned everything I could about Down syndrome. And then I had an idea, an idea for a short film. It deals with the behavior of doctors when giving patients a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. So I contacted some of my filmmaker friends and we produced a short film called “More Than a Diagnosis”. I was released in July 2023. It is only 3 min and 21 sec long on purpose because Down syndrome is a 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome. It has also won an award in NY Staten Island film festival.
This year I’ve written a new short film called “Wasn’t Always Like This”, starring the same actress that played the part of the doctor, Sharonne Lanier.
*This one is a dramatic, yet heartwarming story that will also give representation and inclusion for those with Down syndrome. And it will show the love that they want to give to the world. Partner with me and lets show the world that people with Down syndrome are not a burden, but in fact we have so much to learn from them.
