Dawn Corbelli

My name is Dawn Corbelli.
I have been married 36 years and am the mother of 2 grown daughters, 32 and 34 years old. My family is my light.
17 years ago my younger daughter and I were in a near fatal car accident that left me with a moderate traumatic brain injury (tbi) and her with a severe tbi at the age of 15. We were told to find a nursing home for her as she would likely remain in a vegetative state. She learned everything over from babyhood: rolling over, walking, talking, eating, and even toileting.
She is now high functioning with deficits. I am her caregiver.
I have never lost my hope or faith and have chosen to make something positive out of the trauma our family has been through. I can no longer work, but I have learned that it doesn't have to take a paying job to make me feel worthy. Through my experience i have gained new purpose and fulfillment.
I am a brain injury awareness advocate. I have published a book titled,
A Miracle a Day, One Day at a Time: Hope After Traumatic Brain Injury My brain injured daughter and teach high school students about brain injuries and our journey and have done so for the past four years.
I have a Raw and Real brain injury website dawncorbelli.com where I post weekly blogs about our trials and triumphs and researched brain injury subjects.
I speak about brain injury education on podcasts, radio shows and interviews whenever the opportunity presents itself.
I feel joy and success in my life full of blessings. None of it would be possible without God and my family's support.
