Writer and Film Maker

Mark Smith is from Adelaide, South Australia and is collaborating with Hollywood Director Mark Webber and Live Heart Productions to make the film Finding Miss Almond. It is set in part in Central Australia and Adelaide, and recounts the history of Indigenous people in the care of Percy McDonald Smith MBE and his wife Isabel E Smith OAM. Isabel Smith lived a life of service, care and devotion as a surrogate mother to Aboriginal children from the time she married Percy Smith, an Anglican Priest in Alice Springs, in 1943 in the shadow of WW2. The children in their care became leaders of the 1960s civil rights movement and were among the first Aboriginal people to achieve university education becoming leaders in government, sport, academia and the arts. Their grandson Mark Smith has made a career change to film making after more than 15 years working in politics, government and corporate lobbying alongside elected representatives and political figures.
