Born in Mumbai, Dr. Ravi R. Iyer is the founding physician and president of the Iyer Clinic-LMG in Fairfax and Loudoun County, Virginia, USA, and serves as the director of clinical research for Loudoun Medical Group. A physician-scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur with research publications in the mechanisms of gene controls and several patents on veterinary and human medicines, Dr Iyer serves as the CEO of ActivPower, Inc. a nutrition and wellness company he founded. He divides his time between his internal medicine practice, his clinical research, his family, and his two German shepherds.
A transdisciplinary polymath with a research background of two postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Iyer brings forty years of experience spanning the fields of science, medicine, biochemistry, molecular biology, and pharmaceuticals to his work as a diversified healthcare professional. On March 2020, Dr. Iyer found himself and the staff at the Iyer Clinic on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic, testing and treating patients in northern Virginia.
In his new book, The Reaper’s Dance, he takes the reader into the frontlines of the global battle against the virus and analyzes the various forces and decisions that unleased the most catastrophic disaster humankind has experienced in this century, while bringing home the personal horror, pain, struggles, and triumphs of the common people who ultimately faced and fought the disease of their times. In a fast-flowing style of writing, Dr. Iyer takes the reader from the clinic into the homes of COVID patients and into the science that may have unleashed the horror, as well as the science that created the redemption from it in a book that grips you from the first word to its haunting end.
